Authors Helping Harry (with giveaways!)

Congratulations to Jill James and Nat! You’ve both won an e-copy of AUTHOR MOMENTS. I’ll contact both of you.

This is my season for writing for charities. Probably most of you know about my involvement with ENTANGLED, A PARANORMAL ANTHOLOGY, which includes stories by 11 fabulous authors, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Just a couple weeks ago, Bonnie Hoffmaster asked if I would  contribute to another anthology, an essay this time, for another cause that touched my heart. Because little kids shouldn’t die. But it started because one kid was dying. And another kid wanted to save him.

Here it is in Harry Moseley’s words:

“My name is Harry, I’m 11 years old and I have an inoperable brain tumour. When my friend Robert Harley became very ill because of his brain tumour I set up my campaign Help Harry Help Others. I started making and selling bracelets in the hope that I would raise enough money for brain tumour research so that I could help get my friend better. Robert was my inspiration and although he died just after I started my campaign, I am determined to continue in his memory. That’s why I’ve teamed up with Cancer Research UK to help them find a cure for brain tumours.”

What makes this more remarkable is that Harry has an inoperable brain tumor, too.

And now he’s in a coma.

Here’s the blurb for AUTHOR MOMENTS:

“Britain’s Kindest Kid”, Harry Moseley, is more than a nice kid with a big heart; he’s a real life hero.

An eleven-year old hero with an inoperable brain tumor who has raised over £500,000.00 for Cancer Research UK.

Joining Harry in his quest for research funds, are an amazing group of 19 romance writers, along with a wonderful cover artist/graphic designer, who have come together to support Harry, and his charity: Cancer Research UK.

AUTHOR MOMENTS is a collection of essays written by these talented writers. As a bonus, each author has included an excerpt from one of their current, or upcoming, releases.

From the New York Times bestselling lists to the writer who is just beginning their quest, you will find this anthology filled with generous writing advice and anecdotes. It won’t matter where you are on your road to publication or even in your life journey, AUTHOR MOMENTS will fill you with love, laughter and a renewed hope that all things are possible when you care enough to come together and make a difference. Like real life hero, Harry Moseley.

The Authors Helping Harry invite you to pitch in and help Harry find a cure simply by purchasing a copy of this wonderful anthology.

If you want to donate directly to Harry, you can go here: http://www.helpothershelpharry.org. If you want to keep track of Harry’s progress, his mom tweets to his more than 30,000 followers at @harry_moseley. The Authors For Harry have a blog and a Facebook page.

I have to say that the essay was one of the easiest things I’ve written. I opened up my heart and the words poured out – along with a few tears.

What’s opened up your heart lately?

I’m giving away an e-copy of AUTHOR MOMENTS to two commenters. I’ll post the winners here on Wednesday.
